#TRENDING 9/24/25: What's "Healthy" Despite Most People Thinking It's Not?

What's Actually "Healthy" . . . Despite Most People Thinking It's Not?

It seems like we're constantly hearing about things that are SUPPOSED to be healthy. But then it turns out, maybe not so much. Like: Margarine . . . diet sodas . . . SnackWell's cookies . . . Vitamin Water . . . and "tanning for Vitamin D."  (Which people went a LITTLE overboard with.)

So here's a plot twist: Someone asked the internet, "What's actually healthy despite most people thinking it's not?"

People came up with some fun answers . . . although most of them aren't totally "healthy," just not UNHEALTHY. Here are a few:

1. Daydreaming. "It can be a form of focusing and meditation."

2. Taking breaks when you feel unproductive. "It isn't lazy, it can be a reset." Others also mentioned midday naps, which can be revitalizing and energizing.

3. Frozen vegetables. "A lot of veggies are frozen within hours of being picked, which locks in their nutrients."  (Frozen DINNERS on the other hand . . .)

4. MSG. "It's just basically salt . . . a natural flavor and umami enhancer."

5. Salt. And fat. And sugar. "Especially when you're cooking at home, where you can control it, and know you aren't being slammed with hidden amounts."

6. Eggs. "Some people still act like eating eggs is just a daily cholesterol bomb, but they're super nutrient-dense."

7. Carbs. "People demonize them, but whole grains and fruits are literally fuel for your brain."

8. Potatoes. "They get a bad rep because they're usually prepared with a lot of oil and butter, fried, or processed into chips. But if you roast, bake, air fry, or boil them, they're quite possibly the healthiest starchy carb you can eat."

(There was a LOT of potato love. So much that I'm suspicious that the potato lobby discovered this thread.)

9. Popcorn. It's very high in fiber and polyphenols, and has a lot of benefits.  (But, like potatoes, be mindful of how it's prepared . . . and don't just cover it in oil, butter, salt, and powdered cheese.)

10. Hamburgers. "The unhealthiest part of the burger is the bun . . . everything else is pretty solid."

11. Arguing in relationships. "Not arguing CONSTANTLY . . . but some arguing is healthy. If you hold everything in, it breeds resentment, which is the death of every relationship."

12. Playing video games. "It can be a problem like any other fun thing. But for a lot of people it's a great outlet."

13. "Sleeping according to your body's needs, not according to societal norms."

14. "Telling people to [eff] off." Or, just avoiding toxic people.

15. "Jägermeister."  (???)  (Someone cited this link as "proof.")

16. And someone joked, "I'm hoping somebody says ice cream and donuts" . . . but someone else added, "They are mood boosters, in moderation!"

(Ask Reddit)

(Not EVERYTHING is healthy for everyone. Like, Jager, for instance. But it's a good reminder that most things are fine in moderation . . . and basically anything can be damaging in excess.)
