'SNL' And Broadway Actress Laurel Griggs Dead At 13

UPDATE: Laurel Griggs' cause of death has been revealed. Page Six reports that she suffered a fatal asthma attack. Authorities tried to revive her using CPR en route to Cedars Sinai Hospital, but were unsuccessful. she was pronounced dead four hours later.

Laurel Griggs was a young actress on the rise when her life was taken too soon. The 13-year-old reportedly passed away on November 5 and was laid to rest three days later, according to her Dignity Memorial page. As TMZ reports, "the cause of death is unknown and something of a mystery." Though she died earlier this week, the news didn't surface until the weekend.

Griggs' was a Tony award winning Broadway actor and had credits including Saturday Night Live. She made her Broadway debut in 2013 at age 6, playing Polly in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. She was best known for her role as Ivanka in ONCE opposite Scarlett Johansson, which won a Tony in 2015. She performed in the musical for 17 months between 2013 and 2015. The young actress also appeared in several episodes of SNL and Amazon's Cafe Society alongside Steve Carrell, Blake Lively, and Kristen Stewart.

Actress Eliza Holland Madore, who also played Ivanka in ONCE, paid tribute to Griggs on Instagram. "I am deeply saddened by the sudden loss of one of my Ivanka sisters," she wrote alongside a throwback photo of her and Griggs. "Laurel- you were always smiling and always made other people laugh. I’m so incredibly grateful that I got to know you. You will never be forgotten, and we will never stop loving you. Everybody in the Once Family is going to keep you alive through us. R.I.P. My heart goes to her family. 💔💔💔"
