Here's the Real #1 Super Bowl Food in All 50 States
"Mental Floss" shared a dubious study last week that found America's favorite Super Bowl foods were Buffalo chicken dip and baked potatoes. (???) Here's what our ACTUAL favorites are.
Someone polled 3,000 people, and America's top Super Bowl food is officially . . . WINGS. (Yeah, that makes a lot more sense.)
It was the #1 answer in 31 states, plus D.C. Five other foods got at least one state each. Here are the results . . .
1. Buffalo wings. 31 states, including almost everywhere east of the Mississippi.
2. Chips. Seven states: Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota, New Mexico, Massachusetts, and Alaska.
3. Nachos. Five states: Colorado, Maine, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin. (If you combine those two, then chips really got 12.)
4. Pizza. Three states: California, Michigan, and South Dakota.
5. Cheese charcuterie boards. Three states: Iowa, Kansas, and Montana.
6. Loaded potato skins. They're #1 in Hawaii.
Nothing sweet made the list. 84% of people said they prefer savory gameday foods over sweet ones.

(They also looked at the most popular Super Bowl dips. The top five are queso, Buffalo chicken dip, seven-layer dip, ranch dip, and guacamole. Nevada was the only state that gave salsa the top nod. Here's the map.)
