BETCHA DIDN'T KNOW: Nachos are called nachos after their inventor, Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya, who
was the host at a Mexican restaurant called the Victory Club. One night in 1943, some U.S. Army wives came in late, but the chef had already left. So Nacho went into the kitchen to throw something together for them. It was, essentially, nachos as we know them. The dish was so popular with the women and other guests, that it was eventually put on the menu.
